Where Jodi answers journalist queries and earns citations. Status checked July 2026.
| Platform | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Source of Sources | Free | Peter Shankman's HARO successor. Low noise, 1 to 3 digests a day. Best free starting point; economy and cost-of-living queries appear regularly. |
| Featured | Free tier, 3 answers/mo | Acquired HARO in 2025. Curated roundups for Fortune, Fast Company, Yahoo. Exactly where "cheapest states" listicles get built. |
| HARO digest | Free | Revived as a free email digest under Featured. Low effort, monitor for relocation and cost queries. |
| Qwoted | Free tier, 2 pitches/mo | 70% of requests from high-authority outlets, strong finance desk coverage. Test the free tier before paying. |
| MentionMatch | Free | Successor to Help a B2B Writer. B2B and HR content writers; good for remote-work relocation angles. |
| ResponseSource | Paid, free trial | UK national and regional media. Only worth it while pushing the UK and UK vs Spain pieces. Trial first. |
| #JournoRequest on X | Free | Fast and UK-skewed. Specific, data-backed replies stand out against the AI spam. |
Daily: scan the SOS and HARO digests for cost, relocation, moving, expat and salary queries. Weekly: use the 3 free Featured answers and keep the 2 Qwoted pitches for the biggest outlets. Reply within the hour where possible; speed wins these.
Three channels, run in parallel. Direct outreach to the prospect list (this file), journalist requests (previous tab), and guest posts or data collaborations with the handful of sites that openly accept them.
20 to 25 first sends a day. Follow-up after 4 days to non-repliers, then stop; two touches only. Work verified email prospects first, form-only prospects when Gmail sends are done for the day. Mark replies and live links here so the dashboard stays honest.
These send from jodi@costliving.net. Cold volume from your own domain carries reputation risk that the aged Gmail account used for the Spain run did not. Warm the address up: week one at 10 to 15 a day, watch for bounces, and set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC before the first batch if not already done. If bounce rates climb, switch back to the Gmail account.
Confirmed open doors from the research: Remote Tribe (public write-for-us, 1,500+ word posts), Expat Info Desk (public write-for-us), William Russell (partnership form with an "I run an expat website" path, plus press@william-russell.com), moveBuddha (pr@movebuddha.com, pitch world data as complementary to their US-moves studies). Offer a custom data cut rather than a generic guest post; it converts better and takes less writing.
The Professional Hobo openly dislikes SEO pitches; personalise heavily or skip. Worldly Adventurer quotes sponsored rates to link builders; pitch as a free data source only. WhereNext and Where to Emigrate are semi-competitors; send only if you are comfortable with that. The Financial Wilderness ignores Gmail senders, so the domain address helps there.
Edit the PROSPECTS array in this file. One line per site: {k:"domain.com", n:"Name", seg:"uk", ins:"uk", why:"reason", em:"", cu:"https://contact-url", v:"n"}. Optional: fn:"FirstName" for the greeting, note:"warning" for a caution line. Segments: nomad, expat, uk, latam, usa. Insights: nomads, salary, cheapest, expensive, uk, ukspain, argentina, patagonia, usa.
Single file, no build step. Push to Cloudflare Pages (drag the file into a new Pages project or npx wrangler pages deploy the folder). Tracking is per-browser localStorage, so use one browser or keep it local. The file carries a noindex tag, but it lists your targets, so put Cloudflare Access in front of it or keep the URL private.
Prospects researched July 2026 across four segments. "Verified" means the site and contact page were fetched live during research; unverified rows were surfaced in current search results and are almost certainly live, but spot-check the contact URL before sending. Sources are conventional /contact/ paths where fetching was blocked.
